The rotor is 100 microns in diameter and 7 microns in thickness. It rotates up to 10,000 rpm.

Ciliary Motion System

A bimorph thermal actuator using two types of polyimides with different thermal expansion coefficients and a metallic microheater in between them was fabricated. The key concept is to coordinate simple motions of many microactuators in order to perform a task. The dimensions of the cantilever were 500 micrometer in length, 100 micrometer in width, and 6 micrometer in thickness.

DNA tweezers

DNA molecules were attracted between a pair of sharp tips having radius around 10 nm. The molecules attached to tips coated with aluminum. Therefore, it was possible to retrieve molecular bundle from water and to observe it by electron microscopes.

biomolecular motors

Bio-molecular motors, such as actin-myosin, kinesin-tubulin, FoF1-ATPase, can work as a nano-actuator. This figure shows transportation of kinesin (motor molecule) coated micro or nano structur on the patterned the rail molecule (actin or tubulin) on a glass substrate.
